The Shins New Album Coming Next Year

Founder and singer/songwriter of The Shins, James Mercer, has spoken about the release plans on their new album with a Portland community radio station KBOO 90.7. The upcoming record will be The Shins' fifth studio LP and is set for an epic promotional release via Sup Pop Records.

The frontman goes into detail about how important major festivals are in the success of upcoming artists and new music. Mercer states, “Coachella was a factor in my label wanting to postpone the release of the (new) record. Because Coachella is such a powerful influencer, it’s such a high profile festival that we want to get as good a placement as we can in it. And I guess apparently when you release your record has some sort of influence on that.”

You can now listen to the full interview where Mercer talks about how the album "looks like it will be coming out next year. Early next year, like January, hopefully, 2017." and how the band is putting their finishing touches on the anticipated release right here.
